Crisp and Delicious
I spent today making a little home-made apple pie with apple cider from the apples my girlfriend and I picked yesterday at Chudleigh’s farm. The flavour and taste of fresh apples is incredible and absolutely delicious. I like to combine different flavours and having the taste linger. Here’s my recipe design for my apple pie.
APPLE PIE
CRUST
1/2 L or 2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
3/4 of a stick of tender flake pastry lard
5 tablespoons of cold water
1 egg
Milk
FILLING
80 mL or 1/3 cup of white sugar
80 mL or 1/3 cup of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3 tablespoons of flour
6-8 medium-sized apples
Presentation is most important to me, it’s what lures me to any meal. Clean colours, with good contrasting colours are important. So using white plates and presenting with colours to make your food stand and pop and scream EAT ME!
So I added the slice of warm apple pie, with a nice heap of vanilla bean ice cream, thinly sliced apples with a nice cinnamon stick on top. For the apple cider I added a cinnamon stick and a nice slice of apple on the side. The meal didn’t only look delicious but tasted spectacular.
